Uncover a hidden gem in the form of The Devil's Trade
Those of you lucky enough to have caught Dávid Makó aka The Devil’s Trade’s Roadburn Redux performance will be able to testify that no matter the geographical distance between artist and performer, Dávid is capable of conjuring up an intimate and spellbinding atmosphere. Originally booked for Roadburn 2020, this Hungarian musician combines folk with melancholic doom that is reminiscent of the likes of Steve Von Till and Wovenhand – and he’s well and truly captured our ear here at Roadburn HQ.
The 2020 album, The Call of the Iron Peak has kept us company many times over the long months of isolation over the past couple of years, making the prospect of a live performance all the more tantalising. So it is with great anticipation – and two whole years of waiting – that we’re thrilled to be preparing to finally welcome The Devil’s Trade to Roadburn in April.
The feeling seems to be mutual as Dávid tells us: “Third time is said to be the charm. It feels so weird trying to find the best words for the third time. I could search for my first announcement from 2019 or the one for the Redux edition in 2020. So many things have and have not happened since Roadburn got cancelled for the first time. Being so blessed that I got invited again, I just hope in April we all can make it there for real.”
Prepare for this hidden gem to be well and truly uncovered this Spring.
