EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Emptiness - Vide full album stream
[php snippet=3]
In April, you’ll be able to enjoy Emptiness performing their new album, Vide, as part of Roadburn Redux. Today, we’re delighted to offer you the exclusive premiere of that very same album.
Produced by vocalist/bassist Jérémie Bézier with recording taking place in his apartment (and on its rooftop!) in Belgium, the resulting album is an often claustrophobic affair. Our suggestion is that you take the next 45 minutes or so out of your day, without distractions, to let this incredible album wash over you. Hard to pin to a specific genre, and at times both fragile and heavy hitting, Vide is a trip that you won’t forget. If you embrace the sense of unease that permeates Vide, let it wrap around you and envelope you, then you can experience it in all its glory.
Click below to listen to the full album complete with visuals. Vide is released this Friday, February 12 via Season of Mist. Click HERE to order a copy. Emptiness will perform Vide at Roadburn Redux between April 16-18.

Svart Sessions at Roadburn Redux
[php snippet=3]
Having hosted a number of Svart artists over the years at Roadburn, they’ve become part of the DNA of the festival… so to have an edition of Roadburn without any of their artists in 2021 seemed inconceivable. Fortunately, over in Finland, cogs were whirring and the machinery was ticking over already – and as we have done so many times before, our forces have united to bring you a number of exclusive and incredibly special performances.
Think The Old Grey Whistle Test on acid; imagine a Jools Holland psychedelic special and you’ll be heading in the right direction. The Svart Sessions will feature brand new signings and established artists side by side, all connected to the notoriously fertile psych rock scene in Tampere. These six performances truly encapsulate the very best of the Finnish heavy, psych and freak-folk underground scene – delivered right into your home this April.
“For over a decade now Roadburn has been our most important European hub both as music fans and label managers, so being invited to join the program of the virtual Roadburn Festival is an immense honor. Dawnbearer by Hexvessel was the first actual album we ever released, and Roadburn is the perfect setting for an exclusive anniversary show, to tie in with the imminent re-release of the album. Other stars of the event include the cream of the younger psychedelic generation and two worldwide band premieres, including a very exciting, closely guarded secret collab group”,
– Tomi Pulkki, Svart Records founder
The Svart Sessions exclusive live program is as follows:
Dust Mountain
(feat. members of Oranssi Pazuzu, Dark Buddha Rising, Death Hawks)
International live debut, performing songs from their forthcoming Svart Records debut.

Lucile Lejoly: Roadburn Redux official artist
[php snippet=3]
Visual art has long been a big part of Roadburn, though with the 2021 festival not going ahead as planned, we seized the opportunity of an unfamiliar format and were inspired to push the artwork into new territory too. Instead of the illustrative poster art we have had for the last several editions we opted for visceral photography that really resonated with us. These photographs highlight the talent found in the cutting edge Roadburn community, but at the same time bears the hallmarks of these traumatic and disorienting times as well. Therefore it felt like a natural step to embrace renowned tattoo and multidisciplinary artist Lucile Lejoly‘s extraordinary images as our official poster artwork for Roadburn Redux.
Hailing from Tours, France, Lucile’s disturbing yet poetic – and sometimes even romantic – works of art address issues related to climate, psychology, body and emotions, captured perfectly by her immediate visual style. Lucile‘s distinctive and life-affirming self-portraits that are at the heart of Roadburn Redux (and part of her revered Dendrites series), capture both the imagery of the underground, but also allows a redefinition of – or adjustment to – today’s ongoing limitations, through her contemporary photography.
Lucile’s evocative observations of the world at large are a testimony to her feelings as well as a tool to contemplate and question ours as well. Welcome to Roadburn Redux, Lucile. We’re extremely proud to have you as our official artist in these unprecedented times; your contemplative aesthetic is helping us to go beyond the boundaries of our own troubled psyche. The true nature of challenging art.

Update On Roadburn 2021: Refunds, rollover and more...
[php snippet=3]
We’re aware that many people have been speculating about the practicalities around hosting Roadburn 2021 as we originally planned – with everything simply carried over from 2020. Despite encouraging news about vaccines we are just not in a position to assume that will be possible in four months from now.
We are currently planning a very much scaled down, COVID-proof version of Roadburn for April 2021, which will be accessible whether you’re in Tilburg or somewhere else around the globe. We’ll have more information on that in the new year…
We’re so grateful that back in March/April you decided to roll over your tickets to 2021, but we understand that you might not be in a position to roll over again to 2022, so we will be offering refunds to those who would like to claim them. Holding on to your ticket is a huge help to us, and it guarantees your access to Roadburn in 2022 (set for April 21-24) – at 2020 prices!
Your options are as follows:
ROLLOVER – you’ve done it once, if you’d like to do it again and secure your ticket for Roadburn 2022 (set for April 21-24) then you don’t need to do anything and your ticket will automatically rollover.
REFUNDS – if you would like a refund you can request one via Ticketmaster – CLICK HERE.
You will have until February 10, 2021 to decide what you would like to do (if you do nothing, your ticket converts to a 2022 Roadburn ticket). Refunds – including those requested earlier this year – will take place on February 19, 2021.
If you booked a camping ticket of any sort or the night bus this will be refunded at the same time in February, regardless of whether you roll over your festival ticket or not. We will make plans for the 2022 Roadburn campsite in due course, but felt that it was fair to free up your money now so you can revisit your accommodation choices closer to the time.
Like many festivals, we are still facing tough decisions about how to progress in the face of an unpredictable, unprecedented pandemic. We have decided that we will not be rolling over the entire line up to 2022; it would be a huge risk and for many reasons it’s not practical to do so. However, we are in communication with bands, booking agents, labels etc to work out the best way to move forward. We have so many once-in-a-lifetime sets at Roadburn, and for some we’re going to have to wait a bit longer for those unique performances. Whilst we cannot tell you our 2022 plans now – we promise to deliver the high-level, special shows that you’ve become accustomed to.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. Despite the silver lining of being able to connect with the Roadburn community this coming April – more news on that in the new year – it is still with a sense of disbelief that we tackle each and every part of this endeavour. We hope you’re safe, well and finding solace in music, as we are.
