A heartfelt thank you!

April 24, 2017

Dear Roadburners,

Another year is done and dusted and as you all make your way home from Planet Roadburn, we wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to you all for participating in an incredible four days here in Tilburg.
You came with open minds and open hearts, embracing each and every band and celebrating the diversity of the line up. Just as many acts played a huge part in pushing boundaries, you- the audience – played a huge part in breaking down barriers too. Roadburn has never settled for being one dimensional, and clearly nor have you.

We are so humbled to be in a position to say that we have a true Roadburn community here, and that it bridges the gap between performers and audience effortlessly.

We are still processing what has happened this past weekend, but we have many great memories to look back on…
John Dyer Baizley curated the main stage on Friday, and Het Patronaat on Saturday, bringing the likes of Disfear, Amenra, Chelsea Wolfe, Trans Am, Oathbreaker, Youth Code, and, of course, Baroness to Roadburn audiences.

Coven played their first ever show on European soil to a rapturous reception, whilst Warning performed their seminal album Watching from a Distance in full for their very first return show. Artist in Residence, Gnod, took on multiple guises throughout the weekend and presented four mind bending shows. Mysticum took the production values of Roadburn to a whole new level with their incredible stage show, whilst My Dying Bride performed their iconic album Turn Loose The Swans in its entirety.

Black metal in all its forms secured its place as a staple part of Roadburn’s genetic make up, even including a surprise set from Iceland’s Misþyrming.

For many, the inclusion of acts such as DÄLEK, Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, Zu, Whores., Emma Ruth Rundle, and Zeal & Ardor amongst others added a whole new dimension to the Roadburn experience.
Mark your calendars for 19-22 April 2018, because we’ll be doing it all again then.
Until then, we wish you an easy descent from the annual Roadburn high, and once again – enormous thanks.

– Walter & Becky, and all at the 013 venue
